5. Self-reflection on Library Tour

So, I bet people wouldn't stop on library tour since library is a boring place, but let me tell you, this place is the place that is going to help you in study. This is a self-reflection on my library tour which is our campus library, Al-Bukhari Library.

Here's a few reference you need to know about this place.

Operation hour
  • Monday until Friday ( 8.30 am - 6.30 pm )
  • Exam Week ( 8.30 am - 10.50 pm )
  • Saturday ( 9.30 am - 6.30 pm )
  • Sunday ( 9.30 am - 4.30 pm )
**Here's some tips for you in case you wanted to escape from your friend or having private time your in room and not to be bother, remember this schedule so that you can manipulate them and having them thinking you were at the library but instead doing something else 😈. Just don't get caught in doing these white lies because they know where to find you next 😆.

Zone in Library

  • Silent Zone
  • Quiet Zone
  • Relax Zone
  • 24 Hours Zone
**In doing this white lies that I'm teaching, make sure you know the detail and you're the one that ask questions after he ask where the hell have you been, because trust me, he will bought you lies. Well, 70 - 90% only works because unless he's this type of person who I'm about to explain. There's type of people who will be rounding the place for hours because he wanted to meet someone and wanted to do something else as well on that place, and that person for example is me, so there's no fooling me around dope 😉.

IT Room Usage

So if you have assignment and wanted to do it on computer or laptop but you don't have one here on campus, the library is welcoming everyone with open arms 😙. Here's some steps on using the IT Room's computer:

  1. Register at the counter in front of the IT Room before going in.
  2. The librarian will give you one hour to use it. You can renew your time hour by visiting the counter 1 hour later.
  3. Prohibited to save your personal data in the computer.
**Can this library allow people to watch movie on the computer? I don't know because no one ask during our introduction of the library. So just watch if you want to, and tell them you didn't know when you were caught red-handed and promise them you're not going to do it again 😎.

6. My semester calendar

As you can see, I draw my semester calendar 👶. So bored I spend lot of time on the drawing instead of typing about this topic. Well, I once explain that I'm all of the learning style depends on situation. In making my calendar look interesting, tactile seems to suitable in this situation.

Furthermore, the date seems to drag to the other month. In order to get my imagination to be interpret in your brain, let me explain each picture representing each month briefly.

  • August : Focus on introduction of EUD and interim week from 22 July until 16 August.
  • September : Started academic session with lecture, then goes by picture representing us student whom still lost and regretting why on earth did we pick or get civil engineering course instead of other course or maybe this pictures only representing how I think I'm going through the semester. Then there's picture below show doing push-up. Well, that representing our co-curricular day has started for the first semester. And for the first semester, all of us have to join 'Kesatria"
  • October : The academic session goes for 8 weeks from 3 September until 26 October. Of course there will be quiz along the way. The picture shows how hard I tried to think but still can't even answer. Even spelling my own name on the paper would have made me cry and feel like wanted to throw the table upside down.
  • November : 4 November until 15 December will start class again after mid semester break on 27 October until 3 November which shows how happy I was in the picture after passing those quiz and getting holiday
  • December : As for your information, after 6 week for attending classes from November, there will be revision week and special break due to Christmas. So the picture shows that if anyone who wanted to get flying color for their exam, that is the amount of time we got to study.
  • January : For 3 weeks will the exam be running. The other picture on January showing we're free for 5 weeks because of semester break before continuing second semester.

8. Job Task Analysis

Since its holiday before our semester starts, I kind of dragging my homework to the next day which is today, 20 August 2019. It's pain in the ass when you told and remind yourself in doing something but something else bother you, so here some tips, face your obstacle sooner for your own benefits.

By the way, friendly reminder, don't act like you're ain't scared of nothing and keep mocking people on social media but when in real world, your silent like a butter wouldn't melt in his mouth. I'm referring this to a student, same course as I am, who didn't know when  to shut his mouth 😤. I think he's lack of love from his parents, who knows. Wasted my time on him, regret putting attention on him.

Anyway, thanks a lot to Madam Asmidar, our lecture, she made our assignment much easier. Willing to be teacher's pet if all the lecturers here as kind as she was. This is sincere from the bottom of my heart 😙.

15. Note Taking Strategies

11.35 pm - Didn't know how to do this one, so I waited my classmate to  reply.
1.30 am - Just realize right now already 21 August. I think I should take a nap.
1.00 pm - Dang it, I overslept. Already 1 pm but no one reply 😑.
8.00 pm - Playing game all day while waiting text
10.00 pm - Yay, I'm not alone in this universe!

Well, my classmate told me just search in Google. The first thing that pops up on Google was Cornell System. On my point of view and what do I think about it was a brilliant idea. I heard about this Cornell System at first when I was in high school, at age 15 years old I think. About this Cornell System thingy, it's very useful since I've tried it myself and it do help me in memorizing better. So here's a few note taking strategies on using Cornell System.

Cornell System

Number 1 is for tittle. Well number 2 is for keywords. Number 3 is for simple notes and number 4 is for summary for number 3. See, as easy as abc, doing this for taking notes in class during lecture is a piece of cake. The number 2 can be question based on the notes. This way, you can keep yourself update on how much you memorize just by answering the question you've made. Example of Cornell System is on my first assignment, you can check it out now.

You can use the 5 R's on taking notes during class as well because this one is kind of the same concept as Cornell System. The 5 R's represented record, reduce, recite, reflect and last but not least, review.  Record does not mean recording video, it means record all the meaningful information legibly and write it down. Next, reduce goes by doing summary of the things you have recorded just now using key word to make it easier. After that, recite without looking at your notes. Reflect, in other words raise question based on your summary and try to answer it creatively. Review by revise 10 minutes of your old notes before continuing to new material.
The 5 R's

One more way on taking note is using the outline method which is the most popular note-taking methods for college students.

So this method used in variety situations if class follow a clear structure. The advantage of using this method is that key words play as the main role and it gives a proper and clean structure to our notes. By the way, this method can't be use on all subject such as chemistry or math that consist formulas and charts. This method doesn't work as well if the lecture doesn't follow certain structure.

7 August 2019 UED Assignment

1. Differences between school and university life

School :

  • Have to wake up early in the morning, in other word, early riser since school starts at  7.15 a.m.
  • Fixed schedule to be follow are arranged by the school.
  • Wear the same type of uniform to school, everyday.
  • No gadget are allowed to bring at school.
  • Less independence than in university life.
  • Spend atleast, 35 hours in class.
University :
  • Wake up depends on what time we wanted since the classes time are not fixed.
  • Random schedule every week.
  • Rules on attire are bend a little, for example, we can wear different from others as long it is still following the rules and regulation.
  • Our own gadget are recommended to be use in helping us doing our work.
  • More independence than in school life.
  • Spend way less time in class compared to school.
2. Learning styles

Short note on learning styles :
  • Well, I'm not that good in studies but I can give you tips that my lecturer, Ms. Asmidar shared with us during my first lesson in class is that everyone have different type of understanding and that's why different people have different type of learning styles. There's 4 type of learning styles, visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic.  As for someone who is a visual learner, they have to watch demonstrations or example in learning something. As for someone who is an auditory learner, they can learn and understand something much easier with hearing. As for someone who is a tactile learner, they like to take notes, draw or doodle to remember stuffs or important information. Last but not least, as for someone who is a kinesthetic learner, they learn through moving stuff or doing practical. So these are the types of learning styles that were categories in specific way.
My own learning styles :
  • Like I said before, I'm not that good in studies but I still have my own learning styles. So, after 6 years studies ( not included primary school because I don't know what I've been particularly learning during that time, LOL ), I have verified my learning skills through how I study and exam result marks which shows how much effective is my learning skills. Anyway, in order to get high marks in exam, we have to put all our effort first, then we can argue why our result still bad, because in my situation, I had gotten bad results because I'm lazy, well not all the time but I would say my laziness rate is 99.99%, joking, LOL, but yeah, even thought I'm lazy, when things got me hyper, all my laziness vanish straight away, like when I'm doing this assignment right now. So, what I realize is that my learning styles consist all of the above learning styles I have state, just that some of it got way better than the others depend on situation. For example, after graduate from school, I got myself a job as a barista. So, how did I learn to do coffees and frappuccino for customer? My co-workers help me in memorizing how to make the ideal coffee or frappuccino by giving guidance. The guidance consist of visual and auditory learning styles. In making coffees and frappuccino, they don't just finish without you brewing them. So, in process of making the drink, as a barista, you're the one that have to make the things work. Now, the process of learning how to make the right coffees and frappuccino included kinesthetic learning style as well. Here's some bonus, in where I was working, we need to mark the customer drink on the cup, plus putting customer name on the cup, this to differentiate the different of one drink from others. When time pass by about a week, I memorize all the drinks and its label or marking for all the drinks. So, in my experience of learning how to become a barista at my workplace also consist tactile learning style. Yeah, that's how my learning styles work on me with efforts come within.
3. My goal setting

This semester

  • Become more independence than before.
  • Change my attitude to a good person.
  •  Putting my effort in study.

3 years from now

  • GRADUATE with CGPA above 3.00
  • Change my attitude to a better person.
  • Sees crystal clear way and where to head next after graduate.

5 years from now

  • Finish my degree with flying color result.
  • Work with government, or maybe go for experience in private company ( even though the salary is way less then I should be getting with my education ) for a year or two. Then, continue in government company since experience in working is important.
  • Had an engagement :D ( happy ending to be exact :) )

5 steps approach

Wondering why did I put 'mrcopycat' as the link?

Hola! I'm Hazul , I refer myself as the copycat because I copy things to do if I think its awesome. For an example, when I was a kid, My eldest brother show his drawing skills off and his drawing do impress me. So what I did was start to work my hand in making arts. From there, I realize that things that seems cool on my point of view, I will try to master it and if the thing I try to master seems to not working, I wouldn't recommend myself in doing it unless I have too, like playing football, I'm suck at it. So yeah, that's why the link is mrcopycat.blogspot.com. By the way, I'm not intend to be the master of copying things that I love, instead, being the best version of myself by digging hidden talent that's been lock away deep down inside me.
